With each appointment you’ll learn something new about your pregnancy and the development of your baby. As a rule, one visit per month is sufficient up to week 28. From weeks 28-36, it’s one visit per fortnight and from week 36 onwards, you must visit your doctor at least once a week.
Following the plan set out by your doctor will allow you to monitor the course of pregnancy and detect any potential issues early. Your physician will also help you find the right vitamin supplements to support you and the healthy development of your baby.
The frequency of visits increases closer to childbirth because the risk of premature birth and some complications like preeclampsia increases in the later stages of pregnancy. However, if at any time you are concerned about your symptoms, don’t hesitate to contact your doctor for additional advice.
